Multiplayer Gaming via DirectPlay

ACM for Windows is designed for multiplayer air combat over the Internet.

Internet Explorer users can visit our chat page to locate other players. If you do not use Internet Explorer, don't sweat it. You may use your favorite chat program (for example, ICQ or Microsoft Chat) an enter the #acm-lobby chat room on server k9.chatnet.org. That chat room is connected to our web site's chat participants.

Each ACM session requires one person to act as the host. Decide among the chat particpants who'll host the game.

To Host a Session:

  1. Start ACM for Windows
  2. In the Session dialog, choose the "I'd like to host a scenario"; then press "OK":

  1. Press the Windows 95 "Start" menu button and select "Run".
  2. Enter the program name "winipcfg" and press enter.
  3. The winipcfg program will display your system's IP address. An IP address is composed of four numbers, separated by periods -- for example, 192.111.66.99 would be a valid IP address. This address is normally changes each time you connect to your Internet Service Provider.
  4. Use chat to supply your IP address to the other players.
  5. You may then enter the game.

To be a Guest:

  1. Wait for the session host to supply you with the host machine's IP address via chat.
  2. Start ACM for Windows.
  3. In the Session dialog, select that you'd like to "Join and existing session"
  4. In the Locate Session dialog, you will be prompted for the host machine's IP address; enter it and press "OK":

  1. In a few seconds, the name of the host's game will appear in the session list box. Select it and press "OK".
  2. Select an aircraft type and team and your ready to fly.
