ACM for Windows Techical Note #5 Sound problems create startup problems

This document outlines a problem with sound management in ACM for Windows 1.0 and 1.0a.

1. A problem in ACM for Windows sound management has been uncovered. If the sound manager fails to initialize properly, ACM for Windows dies with an exception during startup.
2. If you have the ACM for Windows sources, you can download and install an updated acm\pc\SoundManager.cpp that will work around the problem. A new, complete version of the source tree will be available soon.
3. If you have the ACM for Windows binaries, you should have received a mail message describing how to download an updated version of the software. If you have not yet purchased a license for the binaries, you may obtain an updated evaluation version from the download page.
